Shape by Jordan Ellenberg sounded like it would be a great read any math nerd would enjoy. However, the book ended up being more confusing than enjoyable. I wanted to LOVE this book but unfortunately, I cannot recommend it.

Overview
Shape by Jordan Ellenberg sounded like it would be a great read that was right up my nerdy math alley. Even my sister-in-law, who is not a math person, thought it sounded good and joined me in reading it. However, the book ended up being hard to follow and impossible to understand. We both gave up on reading it (and I NEVER do that), me at chapter 3 and her at chapter 1. It was that painful.
He does have another book that was on the New York Times bestsellers list called, How Not to Be Wrong: The Power of Mathematical Thinking that maybe I should try instead. It might have less distracting “jokes” and a better overall flow to it.
Unfortunately, I was left really disappointed with Shape. At least the book will look nice on my bookshelf and help me look smart. 😜
Have you read this one or any of his other books? Do you have a favorite math-based book I should try instead?
P.S. If you do want to read a GOOD math-based book check out The Man Who Solved the Market by Gregory Zuckerman! I can’t rave about that book enough!!!
